The maintenance of gunwale:

The maintenance of the gunwale is very important. Generally, the gunwale is treated with waterproof and UV resistant paint spraying layer in the production process. Due to wear, climate, water area (such as sea water) and other reasons, the paint on the gunwale surface falls off. If this situation is found, the paint with waterproof and UV resistant should be repainted as soon as possible. In the process of painting, it is recommended to apply only one thin layer of paint at a time and paint repeatedly. This method will ensure a more uniform and firm paint layer. This method is applied to the maintenance of all wooden parts of the hull.

The specific method is as follows:

Step 1: Sand the entire surface of the gunwale evenly with sandpaper;

Step 2: Repaint, paint as thin as possible each time, paint again after drying thoroughly, , repeat the process three to four times.

Hull maintenance:

The double wall construcure of the dragon boat is composed of two layers of walls, which are divided into an inner wall and an outer wall. The gap between the two walls is relatively small. Therefore, when storing the dragon boat equipment in the warehouse, attention should be paid to the force and other issue problem. The maintenance of the hull is very important. Some scrap friction will damage the gel coat on the surface of the boat, resulting in bare glass fiber exposure; or large-scale damage caused by impact or other accidents, so the boat must be repaired in time. Usually, the shop of fiberglass products can handle such damage completely. In addition, the manufacturer can be contacted for repair. If the product is slightly damaged, the user can purchase the gel coat for repair, and then polish it by a polishing tool.

Transportation, loading and unloading of the dragon boat:

In the process of the boat getting in and out of water, if the transportation method is wrong or not noticed, it is easy to cause damage to the dragon boat. The correct method requires sufficient manpower to lift the dragon boat by handles inside the boat, trying to avoid direct contact with the ground or the beach; or place it on the trailer and other equipment directly into or out of water. It is forbidden to drag the dragon boat directly on the sand or other ground, causing damage to the bottom of the dragon boat.

Maintenance of the Dragon Boat:

1.The dragon boat should be kept clean and dry as much as possible. Try to avoid the accumulation of water in the cabin. After using the dragon boat equipment, it should be cleaned and dried in time.

2. When the dragon boat is not being used, the hull should be covered with the cover, which can effectively avoid the damage of the hull caused by sunlight or rain, and also minimize the maintenance cost for the wooden fittings.

3.In the process of using dragon boat equipment, it should be a normal situation if there is a small amount of water in the cabin, which shall be the splashed water during the boat movement in the water. If the water inflow is large, it is necessary to check the hull for damage and repair it in time.

2.Re-paint the worn wood parts if necessary. This step should be done before winter.

3.If the dragon boat is placed outdoors, it should be placed on a stand such as a shelf or a bench to avoid the deformation caused by long-term stress on the two hull ends. If the dragon boat is stacked by other dragon boats , please make sure do not exceed the weight of the three boats above; and cover the hull with items such as canvas to avoid other corrosion or damage.
